Germany’s triathlon elite at the start of the OstseeMan in Summer 2022. Glücksburg will be the venue of the German Championships 2022 in the triathlon long distance.
The OstseeMan in August 2022 in Glücksburg will be a very special edition. Not only will the popular triathlon event take place again after two cancellations due to the pandemic, but also the German triathlon elite will have their special rendevous in Glücksburg next summer. As part of the OstseeMan 2022, the German Championships in the long distance individual will be hosted. Amongst a large field of national and international triathletes, Germany’s best will be competing in the top distance of the triathlon in 15 age groups and in the elite category. One of the sporting highlights of the season will take place in the so-called “Hawaii of the North”, where swimming in the crystal-clear Baltic Sea, a bike and run course on the coast and short distances between the disciplines characterize this outstanding triathlon location in Glücksburg.
“I am very proud that we have been awarded the rights to host the German Championship from the German Triathlon Union” says Reinhard Husen, initiator and race director of the OstseeMan, who adds in the same breath that he also sees in this a great appreciation for his team, which has supported him for many years. “In our start and finish area directly on the beach promenade, all participants are warmly welcomed and celebrated, just as they are on the courses themselves” is Husen convinced, who as a long-time triathlete is very familiar with a wide variety of event venues and formats.
Jan Philipp Krawzcyk, DTU Vice President Event and Refereeing adds: “For almost 20 years, the OstseeMan has been a permanent fixture in the triathlon calendar in Germany and has developed over the years into a great triathlon event with great potential. I am therefore very pleased that we will be able to crown the DTU German Champions over the triathlon long distance there next year.”
