Dear OstseeMan-Community,

First of all we would like to thank you for your registration and for your confidence in the OstseeMan Triathlon!

In the last days and weeks we have invested a lot of time and energy in the preparation of the event and in the development of a comprehensive hygiene concept, so that the OstseeMan 2021 can also take place under pandemic conditions. The main focus was on a responsible execution in the sense of all participants and to offer you the usual professional triathlon platform. Based on the event stage plan of the state of Schleswig-Holstein, we looked forward to a possible realization of the event with a lot of tailwind and received signals that justified this optimism.

Despite decreasing incidences and many easements around us, we now unfortunately have to realize that the current ordinance situation of the state of Schleswig-Holstein does not allow the local authorities and institutions to issue a permit to hold the event until the beginning of July. However, in order to set up a triathlon of this magnitude that is safe and at the sporting level of recent years, we as an organization and our partners on the security side need at least six weeks to prepare, despite all the flexibility.

As this point in time has now been reached and we can’t expect any further uncertainty from you, we unfortunately have to cancel the OstseeMan 2021 today with a heavy heart.

As athletes, we can imagine how big the disappointment is when you are already in the midst of training preparations and have been working towards the big goal, the OstseeMan 2021. Also our many volunteers and supporters will miss the event, which could have been another step towards normality. We are all very sorry for this.

Nevertheless, we look ahead and start as soon as possible with the planning and preparations for the OstseeMan 2022, where we very much hope to be able to welcome many of you finally again in Glücksburg. Therefore, all registered participants are invited to carry over their eligibility from this year to next year. Should this not be an option for you, we will of course understand and refund the entry fee according to the race announcement. You will receive an automatic email from mika:timing shortly.

We are convinced that we can only get through this unusual time together and hope very much in the sense of our sport and social togetherness that we will soon be able to stand side by side again on the beach in Glücksburg in the morning and master the sporting challenges that lie ahead of us.
