Competition Rules :

The events are, except for special cases on the merits of the competition regulations of the German Triathlon Union (sports rules, regulations organizers, bundesliga rules, anti doping rules, judges rules), and law and procedure and the disciplinary system is based. With registration the participant accepts the competition regulations and the laws and rules of procedure for itself as to be binding. Each participant is responsible for the technical safety of its equipment and is responsible to ensure that it complies with the rules. Special arrangements will be announced at the race briefing.

 

 

General:

The following terms and conditions regulate the legal relationships between the participants and the organizer of the triathlon event OstseeMan Glücksburg. Responsible for the event organisation is OstseeMan Sportpromotion UG (limited). The business relationship between OstseeMan Sportpromotion UG (hereinafter organizer) and the participants only the following terms and conditions shall apply in their valid version at the time of registration or in their current form if it is more advantageous for the participants. Conditions not of the operator does not, unless the organizer has expressly consented in writing.

Mika timing GmbH, Bergisch Gladbach. The transponders provided by the promoter must be worn throughout the entire race according to the promoter’s regulations to ensure the correct recording of time. Other chips may not be used.

 

 

Participation:

Participation requirements

a) a license issued by the national triathlon-association or

b) a day license. 

It is possible to apply for a day license for € 15, - together with the application. Single participants are eligible from age 1992nd Season. Relay teams need no day license.

 

 

Registration single participants:

a) Via internet www.ostseeman.de or

b) with official form downloaded from the internet.

 

When using the official form, applications are only valid with a signed release from liability, if the registration fee is transferred at the same time or if a direct debit instruction or a non-negotiable check is included. In case of an online-application, the release from liability is given electronically on the website. When transferring the entry fee to the bank account given in the confirmation of the reservation, the number of the reservation must be given in the transfer form. A contract with the organizer comes into existence only when the entry fee will be credited to the account of the organizer and the participant's name appears on the start list. The start list can be viewed on the Internet.

 

Giving one’s starting place to another person is definitely not permitted.

 

All participants have to pick up their start documents personally and need valid starting licenses as well as identity cards/passports which they have to produce at the issuing office or at other control points of the organization. Otherwise a day license must be bought.

 

The registration of an athlete can be turned down or a start ban can be remitted if an athlete disturbs the arrangement, already behaves before the beginning of the arrangement annoyingly or offends against competition rules or is to be seen on account of his behavior that he will cause such disturbances. In addition, the organizer has any time the right to reject the participation on account of a running doping procedure or a legal barrier. Furthermore every offense against the competition rules leads to the Disqualifikation of the participant. The participants who are disqualified for evident deception receive no start permission for the following two years.

 

 

Registration of relay teams:

b) with official form downloaded from the internet.

 

Registrations about the official form are only valid with signed liability exemption of all three participants and concurrent transfer of the registration fee, the granting of a direct debit instruction or a non-negotiable check is included.

 

As regards relay teams, the signatures of all three competitors are  definitely required.  The relay-signature form is sent after entrance of the on-line registration by e-mail and must be sent satisfactorily and triply signed to the organizer. The signatures must be supplied later within 14 days.

 

Provided that relay participants have not attained the majority during the competition day yet and are also not fully able of business therefore, the signature of the education beneficiary on the liability exemption is necessary, in addition, for this.

 

Members of relay teams do not need a licence issued by the national triathlon-association or a day license.

Bank charges are payable by the participant. Checks of foreign participants must be transferred from a German bank.

 

 

Additional costs:

a) Day license € 15,-

b) Pasta Party Ticket for guests € 12,- (includes: pasta, salad, water, beer, cake, Steinmeier fruit juices).

c) If there are changes of the registration after the deadline for application (05 July 2012), there will be an administrative charge of € 15,-.

 

Participants in the single competition can aquire a maximum of two additional pasta tickets.  Each relay team can acquire a maximum of three additional pasta tickets.

 

 

Right of withdrawal:

Every participant is entitled to withdraw until 31 May 2012. The entry fee will be refunded after the deduction of € 60,- as an administrative charge. Foreign competitors should send their IBAN and SWIFT Nr. with their withdrawal. Bank charges are payable by the participant.

 

After 31 May 2012 entry fees will not be refunded any more. A movement of the start for the next year is not possible.

 

If the organizer must carry out because of higher power or on account of official arrangement or for safety reasons changes in realization of the arrangement or call off completely this, no a pity obligation to indemnify of the organizer exists towards the participant. An allowance of the full start money assumes that the entire failure of the arrangement falls in the area of responsibility of the organizer. If the arrangement must fall out because of higher power or, otherwise, the organizer does not have to represent the failure of the arrangement, the entry fee is refunded under charge of the expenditure of the organizer. The proof is left to the participant that the expenditure of the organizer is lower.

Age groups:

Single participants: According to DTU; minimum age 20 years

Relay teams: without age groups; minimum age swimming 14 years, minimum age biking 19 years, minimum age running 18 years.

 

Team scoring OstseeMan:

Each team consists of participants of the same sex. The three best participants of a club score. Therefore an additional list of names for the team is not necessary. However, all team members have to use the same spelling of the name of the club including abbreviations.

 

 

Relay teams OstseeMan:

Each relay team consists of a swimmer, a cyclist and a runner. Two disciplines may also be done by one participant. Women’s, men’s and mixed teams are allowed. There occurs no age group evaluation.

 

 

Special scorings:

a) Norddeutsche Meisterschaften - North German Championships (SH / HAM / BRE / NIE / MVP)

b) International Military Challenge for members of international armed forces of all arms of the service according to special announcement (on request).

c) Company relay team championship

 

 

Prize Money: € 13.700,-

 

 

Prize Money single participants OstseeMan:

The first three men and women will receive a bonus of € 2.500,- / € 1.000,- / € 750,-.

 

The winner of the men’s race with a result of less than 9 hours and the winner of the women’s race with a result of less than 10 hours will receive a bonus of another € 1.000,-. This bonus will go only to the winners even if several athletes finish in less than the above mentioned time.

 

 

Track records OstseeMan:

For new track records both the male and the female winners will receive an additional bonus of € 1.000,-. Only the winners will receive this bonus even if several athletes set a new track record.

 

 

Prize Money teams OstseeMan:

The first men’s and women’s teams will receive a bonus of € 300,-. The second and third men’s and women’s teams will receive presents.

 

 

Prize Money relay teams: 

The winning relay teams in the categories of men, women and mixed relay teams will receive a bonus of € 200,-. The second and third winning relay teams of men, women and mixed relay teams will receive presents.

 

 

Awards:

Every participant finishing the competition within a total time of 15 hours will receive the official OstseeMan Finisher-Shirt, a medal and a certificate as well as a result sheet. The winners of the age groups will receive a present. Certificate and result lists are put after chequered flag into the Internet under www.ostseeman.de and can become downloadet.

 

 

Food and drink:

During the competition, participants will get sufficient supply of water, isotonic drinks, cola, energy bars and bananas. After the competitions, drinks and food will be available in the finishing area.

 

 

Service:

Massage treatment will be available in the changing zone. Medical care and rescue service will be provided by the Bundeswehr medical team, the German Red Cross Glücksburg, the Glücksburg police as well as by physicians.

 

 

Competition:

All participants will start the competition at the beach promenade of Glücksburg by a crowd start on the swimming distance, a triangular course close to the beach, to be passed two times. The swimmers will swim in the Baltic Sea, facing Denmark. After the change a fast bicycle course will follow, passing the charming landscape of Angeln. The course is to be passed six times, thus being very eventful for both the participants and the spectators.

The change will take place in the same changing zone as after swimming.

The running course, which leads along the water via the promenade to the center of Glücksburg for 3 km, through the castle grounds, passing the castle, is to be passed five times.

 

 

Time Limit:

Swimming 2 hours 10 mins.
Swimming and cycling 9 hours 30 mins.
Swimming, cycling and running 15 hours 00 mins.
